My Very First Blog
Thank you for visiting my blog. I would like to give a brief introduction of myself and why I set this blog up. I currently belong in the Social Science Education major at Florida State University and my passion to change the lives of those kids who had none to look to for inspiration and motivation is what moved me towards this path. I was one of these kids and it was my social studies teacher in higschool that changed the very way that I looked at the world. It went from a dismal place bathed in misfortune and ill comings to a place of glory and meaning through sheer hard work and dedication. Since the day I met him, my abilities were enhanced and my dreams became nothing short of reality so in order to payback such a humble favor, I want to show a child who sees the world as nothing but dark and grey that it can instead be a world filled with light and potential just as my teacher once did for me.
This blog was created due to the requirement of my Education Technology class at Florida State University. To be quite frank, I never saw myself using technology in this manner when it came to academia. I would just use technology to complete assignments such as essays, homework, or even my readings. I never thought I would now be contributing to the online learning network. Prior experiences of technology in educational setting have usually been on a visitor mode to get something done but never as a resident leaving my thoughts and idea for someone to see.
I hope this class will teach me how to have a stronger mark on both my students in the future and the field of education. I want to better learn how to use technology because I feel like I still need practice and increase my knowledge outside the basic applications such as Microsoft Word and Google. I want to also learn how to make my blogs more interesting and attractive so I can better spread my ideas to students and educators. I also need to improve my design capabilities as I feel they need advancement especially if I want to get better grades in my class.
I greatly admire your need of helping other students as you see yourself in them. While I am also new to EME 2040 I do think that you will find a better understanding of classroom technology that will aid you in becoming the motivating teacher you want to be! I look forward to seeing your posts and growth over the course of EME2040.
